Beltane Celebration - Saturday 3rd May ~ Ancient Technology Centre ~ "The Shout for Life"
Spring is springing, and so are we!
Join us in joyful community for an inspiring evening of storytelling, ritual, drumming and much more in the UK’s largest, most majestic Earthouse.
Together, we will gather as the ancestral peoples of these Isles have done for thousands of years, to celebrate the ancient Gaelic festival of Beltane and welcome in the sun and the summer months.
This year, our Beltane celebration theme is “The Shout for Life”, as told by Tom in Robin Wall Kimmerer’s life-enhancing book, “Braiding Sweetgrass”.
It is so completely understandable to feel overwhelmed in the face of greed and war in these times; but, as in the story of ‘The Shout for Life’, we still have choices, and where there is a Wild Heart, there is a way!
Together, in our dancing, singing, remembering, sharing, drumming and much more, we can enter into rooted community as the antidote to adversity.
The evening’s celebrations will be hosted by Earth Kin Hearth Keeper and multi-award-winning poet and sacred celebrant Ellie Brooks.
Throughout the celebrations, we will be hearing messages from the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, as shared by our performers and ‘artivists’, Liv Torc of the Hot Poets campaign, ritualist, storyteller and poet, Rozi Mabob and more.
We will also be holding a poetry open mic section hosted by the Bard of Exeter, Ceri Baker, on the theme of the “Shout For Life” in addition to inviting stalls and guest speakers from local community groups actively involved in taking care of our Dorsetshire Earth.
Our ‘supporting women in business’ initiative will also be running, with stalls from women living a heart-led life.
Doors and bar will be open from 6pm, and the celebrations will start at 7.30pm.
Wild Hearts, we will weave a new way… let’s come together and spring into hope, as we take part in the ‘shout for life’.
Please note: we do not censor our storytellers and artists, and this event is suitable for those aged 12 years and over.
